The M.S. Spurt is a unique steel cutter from 1964, built in Wageningen and originally custom-built for a Rotterdam shipping company. With a weight of approximately 30,000 kg, a heavy-duty construction, and a classic appearance, this is a vessel that clearly stands out from a standard motor yacht.
Over the course of about twenty years, the Spurt has been progressively outfitted starting from the hull. In doing so, a clear choice was made to use high-quality materials, a professionally crafted wooden interior, and a comprehensive technical system. Inside, a surprisingly complete and comfortable living space has now been created.
The Spurt is not yet fully completed and is being offered for sale in its current condition onshore. Further completion and maintenance are necessary, with the exterior woodwork in particular requiring attention. On the other hand, much of the costly and labor-intensive work has already been carried out, providing a very solid foundation for the new owner.
Layout & Comfort
Inside, the beautiful and professionally crafted wooden paneling immediately catches the eye. The substantial woodwork gives the interior a warm, classic look that perfectly complements the ship’s character.
The spacious salon features large windows, allowing plenty of natural light to flood in and providing a good all-around view of the ship from both the salon and the helm.
The spacious galley is fully equipped and features appliances in like-new condition. These include a 4-burner induction cooktop, a large AEG fridge-freezer, an LG microwave, an exhaust hood, and a stainless steel sink with a mixer faucet. There is also plenty of cabinet space and countertop area. The vessel is also equipped with a washing machine.
For comfort on board, a Climma Vega Mk3 climate control system is installed, capable of both cooling and heating.
Two Bedrooms & Bathroom Facilities
The Spurt has two separate bedrooms.
In the fore section, there is a sleeping area with two single beds arranged in a V-shape. The second bedroom is furnished with a spacious French double bed and features practical closet and storage space. In addition, there are no fewer than two separate bathroom areas. Both are equipped with a spacious walk-in shower and an electric toilet in like-new condition.
This makes the boat exceptionally well-equipped, even for longer stays on board.
Outdoor Space & Solid Teak
A striking feature of the M.S. Spurt is the abundance of heavy teak on and around the vessel. Among other areas, the decks, gangways, and various sections around the superstructure are generously finished in teak. The wide gangways and spacious deck areas complement the ship’s robust character well. The foredeck also features an electric anchor winch with an anchor system. The exterior woodwork requires attention and further finishing in several places. This is an important part of the remaining work on the ship. The Spurt also comes with a wooden mast that can be used in the ship’s further construction.
Propulsion & Maneuvering
Propulsion is provided by two Detroit GM diesel engines, model 3071G3A/59261, each with a power output of 150 pk. This gives the Spurt a total installed engine power of 300 pk. Propulsion is provided by two propellers.
A CUPA bow thruster is also installed for maneuvering.
The engine room is spacious, making the various systems easily accessible.
Engineering, Electrical Systems & Navigation
The Spurt is also extensively equipped from a technical standpoint. The onboard electrical system operates on 24 volts and includes, among other things, a Victron Quattro 24/5000/120 inverter and battery charger, a Victron Orion DC/DC converter, and a large battery bank.
A generator set is also included.
The helm station is equipped with, among other things, radar, GPS, and a chartplotter, an autopilot, and a marine radio. Other features include a searchlight, a ship’s horn, electric windshield wipers, navigation lights, a water booster pump, and a bilge pump system.
Many Parts & Documentation
A large quantity of materials is included with the vessel. In addition to the wooden mast, there are many spare parts, individual components, and materials for further outfitting.
The Spurt also has a very extensive collection of documentation regarding the vessel and its various onboard systems.
For a new owner who wishes to continue the existing work, this provides much of the background information and the necessary materials.
